The six thinking hats ? Edward de Bono
In 1985 Edward de Bono published his book "Six thinking hats", in which he streamlines people's thinking in a surprising way. He posits the 6 "thinking hats" in various colours. Each colour represents a way of thinking that people use when making decisions.
By putting on a certain colour hat - visually or metaphorically - the participant in the decision-making process is invited to think in a certain way. Participants in the group can also give feedback on one another's thinking process: "I notice that you are now thinking with the black hat on".
