The Deming Circle

Essence

The Deming Circle ‘revolves' around four related concepts: plan, do, check and act. The starting point is initiating and maintaining improvements within organisations. Planning the improvement activity (inspiring) with a clear goal must be followed by the execution (mobilising) of this activity. The activity must be measured in terms of results achieved (evaluating). These achieved results must be compared (reflecting) with the original goals for this activity, and new improvement activities must be formulated on the basis of this.
